Yeah, and it would make for a level playing field, i.e. to give everybody the same change to become the category winner.

They also try to force-feed us with Google checkout. Afaik this is very, very unsuccessful, but now with forcing it onto people they might have chance. Problem is, it is only available in the US and UK.
I think when forcing the inferior product onto people at least they should have been up to the task and be ready world-wide.

Having said that, I understand that they don't want to rollout the apps to all markets at the same time. But this doesn't cause inequality among the developers.

What makes me furious is their communications or lack thereof (see above). Truly unprofessional.

OK, after re-reading Google's blog post on the Android Developer Blog and a couple other sources, I agree that Google is only allowing US developers. This is strange, I'm not sure from a software or legal or biz case why. Seems like it'd be in everyone's best interest to open it wide up.

Hey Mariano,

Yea that would suck if only US and UK developers where allowed to sign up for paid apps. Not sure why they wouldn't be able to allow all developers? Guess we will know for sure by mid-next week.

I'm still not sure if I'm going to charge for my first app, Jumpy. It's kind of funny that I'm undecided over 99 cents.

I read it differently. Developers from other countries are not allowed to sell their stuff until some later date. Of course, in line with their bad communication style, this information is not qualified.

So for the time being developers that don't live in the US or UK are out of luck.

If I understand this right, this is totally lame to say the least.

And it's not any new information for them. They could have announced keeping non-us/uk developers out last week, last month or last year.
